Janus 2020
Jyoti Nivas College
Autonomous, Bangalore arranged a Janus fair on the 28th of February,2020.
It was a combination of a job fair, alumni meet and a Under25 Summit.
This day began at 10 a.m.
with the inauguration of the job fair by the principal, Dr. Sr. Elizabeth. Following
this was a brief introduction of the partnering companies by Mouna. The stalls
were then set up and first visited by the principal herself.
These stalls were open
for students from all years and streams. It was a wonderful chance for the students
to get an insight on their opportunities for higher studies abroad and internship
courses. Most of them signed up for the internship courses available while some
also took advantage of the institutions that helped the students pursue higher
education oversea. This continued till the end of the day.
Simultaneously, the
alumni meet started at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Joseph’s Auditorium. This was the
first ever alumni meet that marked the glorious 25 years of the media studies
in JNC.
It began with a prayer
followed by an alumni meet video. The alumni were welcomed by Father Saji and a
dance performance by the students of the B Voc Department.
Next, Dr. Shanta gave
a ‘Down the Lane’ speech which was followed by the alumni interaction moderated
by Ms. Naureen. This event ended with a vote of thanks.
The alumni meet was
filled with an atmosphere of nostalgia and with a bunch of stories of the
alumni. They shared their experience in JNC and the outside world after leaving
their beloved college. It was a great occasion for everyone to meet and catch
up with their fellow classmates and teachers.
The alumni, staff,
class and sports representatives moved to the food stalls for their lunch at
12:30 p.m.
Then began the most
awaited event, the Under25 Summit at 3:00 p.m. in the auditorium. The host, an
ex-student of JNC, started the show by making the audience sing and dance for
an African song, ‘Macarena’. After this ice breaker session, Shreyans Jain, the co-founder of Under25 talked about
the 5 languages of love.
Mukta, a 17-year-old
brilliant singer, then performed for 30 minutes, showcased her talent and
pleased all the students who attended this event. Coach Mogambo
then spoke about why fitness is necessary and conducted an impromptu competition
where the 3 winners won a one-month free membership at his gym.
The last
motivational speaker was Aishwarya Suresh, who stressed on following your dreams.
This talk was surely the perfect way to end the event.
The entire day
was thus a success and was the best way to mark 25 years of media studies at JNC.
This journey was surely worth celebrating.
